ARGUMENTATIVE WRITING 2023
This course serves as a progression from Expository and Analytical Writing. Its primary goal is to enhance students' proficiency in argumentative writing, a skill with broad applications in their personal, academic, and professional endeavors. Within the context of this course, argumentative writing is employed to persuasively communicate with an audience in a well-reasoned manner, utilizing critical thinking skills to construct compelling, rational, and convincing written arguments. The course places particular emphasis on the writing process, including the development of content, organization, and the structure of paragraphs and essays.
Instruction and learning activities in this course encompass several components. These include concise teacher presentations, interactive discussions involving both students and the teacher, as well as student practices in the form of essay writing workshops. Alongside these activities, there are in-class assignments, sessions dedicated to analytical reading, and peer review exercises, in addition to the creation of extended essays outside of the regular class sessions.

PRAGMATICS 2023
This course is aimed
to give students basic understanding on the concept of pragmatics. In addition,
as speaker in language interaction, students are expected to be able to put
speaker meaning in accurate language, and as hearers, they are expected to be able
to interpret speaker meaning accurately.
CRITICAL READING for PERIODICALS 2023
Develop the students’ reading proficiency in English up to pre-advanced level
(approximately 7,000 world level): literal, inferential and evaluative comprehension of
descriptive, narrative, expository and argumentative types of texts, popular, scientific
and literary materials analysis, synthesis, facts and opinions, logic, intent and bias.
ACADEMIC LISTENING 2023
Develop the students’ ability to understand spoken English of Pre Advanced level: literal,
inferential, and evaluate comprehension of dialogues, narrative and expository types of
texts, comprehension of main ideas and details, note-taking, summarizing.
CROSS CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING (CCU)
Deskripsi :
Develop the students’ awareness of the close relationship between language and culture: essential parts of culture, verbal patterns, kinesics, personal relationships, honesty, franksness, trust, self reliance, privacy, discipline, family values, work values, attitudes towards jobs, the meaning of time, subculture ( the main stream, WASP, Black Americans), proximity, cultural conflict, cultural adjustment.

TEACHING TECHNIQUES, MEDIA, and GAMES
To discuss the method, activities, and technique of teaching learning implementation used in
Junior High School and Senior High School, especially for the basis of of communicative
approach, and development and implementation of listening in technique , reading, speaking, writing, vocabulary, and structure.
SPEAKING for ACADEMIC CONTEXT
Develop the students’ ability to speak English at the intermediate level: asking and
giving advice, warning, suggesting, requesting, encouraging, persuading,
complaining, group discussions, debates.
